Meditation

“I lie awake thinking of you, meditating on you through the night.” -Psalm 63.6 NLT Meditation has become such a confusing word in our culture that its meaning and purpose seem mysterious to many of us. However, meditation simply means a continued or extended thought and reflection. We can meditate on ourselves, on a television show, on homework, on our children, on our worries, doubts and insecurities. We can literally meditate on anything in this world—good or bad. The highest form of meditation we can achieve, however, is meditating on God. We can meditate on God because of Jesus’ sacrifice on the Cross and the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives. Meditation on the Source of all that is holy, good, perfect and glorious will not only encourage us, it will revolutionize our lives. Meditating on God and His Holy World is like forming an artery from His Spirit to ours, pumping our lives full of love, joy, peace, security and hope. And our spirit will literally change the trajectory of our physical, mental and emotional well being. God says that there is life and death in words, and meditation produces a supernatural language of Living Water flowing into us. Are you stressed, worried, scared? Don’t meditate on the waves of life; meditate on your Holy Father, and I promise you’ll be asleep in the midst of the storm, flooded by the peace in your soul. Take time today to focus all your attention on your loving God. He has an abundance of love, healing, truth and beauty He wants to give you. He died to...

Build Wisely

Have you ever had a house built or done a major remodeling job? We had a house built once and I can tell you there are a lot of decisions to make. You have to make a plan. In order to build a house, the builders have to know where each room should be, what size it should be. Do you want the laundry room upstairs or downstairs? What kind of entry way do you want? How many bedrooms? Then there are the questions about colors. Wall color, tile color, kitchen counter tops and so forth. Once your have a plan, the builder has to lay a good foundation. Without a strong foundation, nothing will be right. Hopefully, the builder will use the best tools and quality materials. You want anyone who is involved to do his or her best work and to follow the plan. If there is a problem, you would rather them get advice instead of just making a guess. We also hope they would take their time and not make it a rush job. We want the house to last for a lifetime and more. I would want to choose a builder that creates beauty and builds with love and care. It takes time and effort to build. Have you ever seen a house demolished? That doesn’t take much time. They just start ripping, pounding and pulling it apart or sometimes they just bulldoze it down. It does not take love, care or patience. It is easy to destroy. Proverbs 14:1 says a wise woman builds her house but the foolish one tears it down...

{See & Pray} The Path of Trust

The Word Proverbs 3:5-6 NIV 5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart     and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways submit to him,     and he will make your paths straight. The Prayer Heavenly Father, I am so grateful that we can put our trust in you. When the things of this world fall apart, when our loved ones leave us, when we face rejection and abandoment, when disaister turns our world upside down — in all of this we can trust you. Not just with our mind, but with our hearts. Our whole selves. We don’t need to lean on our own understanding. Actually, Lord, you tell us to NOT do that. We need to trust in you, not in what we think we know, but in knowing what you say is true in your word. In the trouble or trial or blessing alike, we are called to submit to You, O Lord. Forgive us, God, for we so often rebel against submission. Forgive us for not humbling ourselves into submission to you. God enable us to learn how to do that well for with it comes a promise we all want — for You to make our paths straight. Thank you, Lord, for this promise. May we embrace it through living with trusting hearts and submissive lives unto you and for your glory. In Jesus’ Strong Name, Amen. {WFW} see & pray :: i’m only pretending…

The Word God can’t stomach arrogance or pretense; believe me, he’ll put those upstarts in their place. ~ Proverbs 16:5 (MSG) The Prayer Father, I want to live authentically!  I long to be real, honest, without pretense.  I desire to look at all people as you look at them ~ amazingly created beings not props.  Help me to live and see those around me as you see them.  We are either sinners saved by grace or sinners in need of grace ~ no better, no worse.  May piety be my enemy, arrogance my advasary and pretense my opponent.  May I look down on no person, but point them up to you.  I want my life to be a sweet smelling savor, not something which you cannot stomach.  May my eyes see as you see and may my heart love as you love ~ true, transparent, genuine.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen The Share If you are joining us today & “Seeing & Praying”  THIS WORD, we’d love to encourage each other on the journey. Reliable & Refreshing

Greetings from the Deep South where the temperatures are soaring. In celebration of the official arrival of Summer, (and Australia, I’m jealous.) I chose this refreshing image. Proverbs speaks so eloquently. The word “refreshing” stopped me in my tracks. As refreshing as a cool drink is, equally refreshing to the soul is a reliable friend, which sadly, in this day and age, seem too often to be few and far between. Perhaps the thought of the day is this… What kind of friend are you? Are you refreshing, uplifting, encouraging and edifying? OR are you like a 100 degree day? Time to be honest.     Welcome to WFW! There are very few rules, in fact the beauty of this ministry is the creative expression that God reveals Himself thorough. We marvel at the creativity that participants post with this meme. We encourage the ” post behind the picture,” or the reflections that many of the participants share. We ask that non-biblical resources not be used. Hidden Gifts

Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.  Proverbs 4:23 NIV I discovered the tiny red package hidden behind the Christmas tree. The white bow I’d taken such pains to tie was undone, a ragged corner had been chewed by the dog, and the once shiny wrapping paper was dull and wrinkled from water that had leaked from the tree stand. Even in its tattered state, I recognized this package that held a precious gift I had purchased for my niece.  On Christmas Eve, my large family became caught up in the frenzy of ripping off bows, tearing into packages, and oohing and aahing over presents, and this gift remained hidden and was overlooked. I delivered the sad-looking little box to my niece and told her, “This package has had a rough life but the gift inside should be fine.” My niece gently opened the neglected and overlooked box and found a shining golden locket inside, perfect and intact. My heart was much like that battered Christmas package. A traumatic childhood, an early marriage and a tumultuous life had left me feeling that I didn’t have even one gift to enjoy, much less one I could share with the world. Even though I’d accepted Christ as my Savior as a young girl, it wasn’t until my adult years that I became intimately acquainted and fell in love with Him. Finally accepting that He created me and unconditionally loved me allowed my tattered heart to heal and as it did, I discovered precious gifts, perfect and intact, that had been hidden for decades. I found...

Clean Underwear

“Always wear clean underwear in case you get in an accident.” Have you ever thought this through? (1) If you’re in a minor accident, there is no need for anyone to see your underwear. (2) If you’re in a major accident, (a) you’re not going to care whether or not someone sees old or dirty underwear, or (b) you’re going to have dirty underwear because of the accident! I know many people in healthcare, including those who work in emergency rooms, and I have never heard a single one of them say in an appalled (or any other) voice, “Can you believe she was wearing dirty underwear?!” Here’s my revised advice: Don’t drink and drive. Don’t text and drive. Don’t change clothes and drive. Yes, there’s a story. Truth be told, the person wasn’t driving and changing clothes. The husband was driving, and my friend was changing clothes. She’d bought a new outfit and just had to change into it. After all, it was much cuter than what she had on. As she changed, her husband glanced – repeatedly – in the rear view mirror. And he got a bit…excited. Before he knew it, he was pulled over beside the road waiting for the policeman to approach the window – while my friend finished wrestling herself into her clothes. When the policeman asked if there was a reason for the rush, my friend’s husband shared the whole story. A smirk and one speeding ticket later, my friend and her husband were on their way. While I haven’t tried to change my clothes while driving, I’ll admit to trying to...
