A Fish Story

We Must Never Forget

Last month marked the ninth anniversary of September 11—a day forever etched with shock and horror into our collective memories. Seventeen people in my community were killed at Ground Zero. Confessions of a Praise-o-holic

“…for they loved praise from men more than praise from God.” John 12:43 Applause. Recognition. Accolades. I crave kudos. As a writer, graphic designer and creative type, much of what I do is on display. Like a second grader during craft time, I retreat to my creative cubby wielding aRead the Rest…

Focus

As a kid, I remember a couple summers of tee ball and one fall of soccer. Other than that, the only running I did was the random game of tag. I was never athletic and I had never had any interest in running. So, I am not sure what possessed me in March 2009 to join a beginning running group called Catch the Wave. This 10 training group aims to get people off the couch and in shape for a 4.37 mile race.

I joined a couple weeks into it. So, I had only 7 or 8 weeks to get in shape. By the time I joined, everyone had been sorted into pace groups and they were up to running for 6 minutes, walking 3 and repeating the pattern several times. Needless to say, I couldn’t run 6 minutes to save my life. I ended up in a cobbled together group that often did more walking than running.

Mediocre Life

What kind of life is that? Sometimes—many times it is what we settle for instead of persevering before the throne—or pushing ahead and believing God for what He wants for us in the first place! He does NOT want the mediocre for His blessed children!

Jeremiah 29:11 says “For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future”. (NIV)
