What My Pink Eye Fear Taught Me

The Praise of Silence

Eight years ago, nursing a broken heart, I carried my bible and sad self across the sand of the beach up the block from my parent’s house. I plopped myself onto a towel, wrapped myself in a warm sweatshirt and read the Word Alive.

It was on that beach, in that sweatshirt, sitting on that towel that I first read these words:

“Silence is praise to you, Zion-dwelling God; And also obedience. You hear the prayer in it all.”

The Language of the Eternal

I’m a blade of grass; I’m already withering.

I woke up older this morning.

No, it isn’t my birthday. I’m just a day older than I was yesterday. The fact of the matter is, my skin is probably dryer. My hair is slowly starting its journey toward gray. My joints are more worn than they were last week. And calcium intake has become even more important.
