Psalm 1:1-3 (NKJV)
Blessed is the man
Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly,
Nor stands in the path of sinners,
Nor sits in the seat of the scornful;
But his delight is in the law of the Lord,
And in His law he meditates day and night.
He shall be like a tree
Planted by the rivers of water,
That brings forth its fruit in its season,
Whose leaf also shall not wither;
And whatever he does shall prosper.
Father, I long to delight in you! I want to see as you see, hear as you hear, give as you give and live as you've called me to do. I desire to walk "blessed", listening to you and hearing you above all the chatter that works so hard to grab my attention. Not all the chatter is "bad", it's just a distraction. Please shield me from distractions whose purpose is to pull me away from your presence. May I listen to your counsel, meditate on your word, keeping my eyes on you and you alone. It is then the roots of my faith grow deep, burrowing through the earth, grounding me as an anchor. When the winds of discouragement come, I'm anchored. When the tides of frustratioin come, I'm anchored. When the waves of disappointment come, I'm anchored. Now, that's what I consider "prosperous"! Thank you for your promises, promises in which I can put my faith. In Jesus' Name, Amen…
