The Word

I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.

NIV

No longer do I call you servants,  for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends,  for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you.

ESV

The Prayer

Lord, THANK YOU for stripping away the image of a servant and calling me friend. You are the perfect model of friendship and I confess that I have so much to learn. You share so willingly when I am stingy. You give love so freely when I judge. You continue to call me friend when I turn away. Jesus, humble me. Teach me. Hear my heart Lord; a heart that desires to be more like you each day; to be the friend you are to me. Help me find the grace daily to give away as grace covers me and meets me daily in my mess. Jesus, I can not become like you without drawing near to you; listening to your words and discovering your heartbeat. You never abandon and always call me friend. On my knees, I am in awe.

~ amen

If you are joining us today & "Seeing & Praying"  THIS WORD, we'd love to encourage each other on the journey. Part of this experience is to share and see what the Lord reveals to each of us we come together in community to share the Holy Word. We encourage you to journal, create & pray through this verse and share that on Wednesday with our community. We hope that with all of us centering on one verse that the Lord will reveal much. Feel free to use any Bible translation that you wish and share below!

If you're just joining us, WFW is looking a bit different this year. Please see how the Lord is leading us in 2013.

Since it's inception, the purpose of Word filled Wednesday is to share God’s word through photo, or graphic image combined with a verse from the Bible. As a new year begins, we feel that the Lord is asking us to take that Word and apply it to our daily prayer lives. We are thrilled to announce the introduction of our newest Counter, Word Filled Wednesday ~ See & Pray. You are encouraged, as in the past, to:

Download it,
Read it,
Print it,
Share with others!

And now we are hoping that you'll join us in "seeing and praying" that Word.

What does that mean?

It means that after much prayer and reflection, we feel that the Lord is asking us to take His Word and apply it to our weekly prayer life. We want to use the graphic images and translations to do just that; join each other in centering our prayers around the weekly Word.

If you would like to share the "graphic of the week," please feel free to do so on your personal blog and link back to ICDevos so that we can encourage women to join us as pray through the Word. We are also encouraging women to link on Wednesday (just as you have done in the past) or any other day of the week, their personal reflections and/or prayers using the Scripture highlighted in the graphic as part of those prayers. We know that prayer is simply talking to God and the Word of God is our source of inspiration and meditation for those prayers. Please feel free to share your own Scripture graphic highlighting THE SCRIPTURE of the Week.

It's our hope that as a community we can encourage each other to use the Living Word as a place for powerful prayer to begin.

Lori MacMath

Lori's daily mantra includes praying, "I will take it Lord, ALL you have to give," and a commitment to live out Colossians 3:17 daily. It's her prayer that the energy that fills her spirit be with her till her dying breath! Nearly two years ago, Lori traded the sauna of the Deep South, for the snow of Chicago. After 19 years in Atlanta, Lori has bought herself a coat and some winter boots and is ready for the NEXT adventure at Harvest Bible Chapel / Chicago West. She navigates this road with her husband of 26 years and they have 3 children, ranging in age from 17 - 22. She seeks daily to be creative and use the gifts the Lord has given her. With the heart of an artist and a spirit to live intentionally missional, Lori strives daily to see Him in all that surrounds her. Encouraging women on their daily walk with the Lord is her passion! She has recently stepped out into NEW territory with her husband in the inner city of Chicago. She is on staff at Harvest Chicago West, in the Austin neighborhood, where the Lord is opening her eyes to Urban Ministry and Discipleship. Lori and her husband also have a Business as Missions endeavor that helps empower women and missionaries around the world.
