{Wordfilled Wednesday} Gather Together with the Great I AM

Where two or more are gathered together as His followers, God is there, among them.

The great I AM.  The Sovereign God of the Universe.  The Redeemer of Souls.  The Mighty Comforter.  Faithful and True. Steadfast. Holy One.

God is among us.  Even now as you and I gather in this blog space, reflecting on the Word of God.

Even when we feel all alone in a room full of believers, God is in our midst.  Sitting right there among us.

What do you think He sees, as He looks through our eyes when we gather together in real life or even online?

What does He feel in our hearts, as He listens to our Words?

What makes Him move closer to us, cupping our heads into His hands?

What draws Him to respond, leaning into our story?  Drawing us into His?

I’m not only wondering about the Great I AM among us.  But I’m curious, what happens to us when we gather together as more than mere women socializing?  What would life be like if we approached one another with a sensitivity to the fact that God is with us…among us…one sister in Christ to another?

Would we speak differently?

Would we look at one another more compassionately?

Would we listen more attentively?

Would we offer prayers more than advice?

Would we more humbly encourage?

Would we be quicker to seek the Great Problem Solver rather than becoming the solver of problems?

Sisters, friends, it is time for a change.  Will you join me in making a commitment before the Lord to be more sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit as we gather together, in real life and online?  Would you be willing to pray before you speak, being mindful of God among us?  Would you be more careful with your words, striving to speak in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs?  Would you even consider stepping out in faith, offering a word of pray before a word of wisdom for those in your midst?

There’s no time like the present to make this commitment, especially with inCourage’s “In Real Life” Retreat happening this coming weekend.  I do hope you will be able to participate, but most of all, it is my deep desire that you will join me in praying for women worldwide to engage differently with the women in their lives, their communities, their churches, and their families, and for that impact to light up the world.

May we allow the love of Christ to dwell fully within us as we live intentionally with the presence of God among us.

This really made me stop and think about my daily interactions–how I act and react. And how would it be different when I remeber that God is among us? Great message! Thank you.
