Go Fish…

This fish is so much more than a spoon rest for our caffeinated beverages.

Some days this fish reminds us that swimming up stream is hard work.

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Romans 12:2

Some days this fish reminds us to “just keep swimming,  just keep swimming.”

But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with perseverance. Romans 8:5

Some days this fish reminds us of the responsibility that’s been given to us.

Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth. Genesis 1:28

Some days this fish reminds us that God is serious when He asks.

Now the LORD provided a huge fish to swallow Jonah, and Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights. Jonah 1:17

Some days this fish reminds us that God calls the unqualified and qualifies the called.

Walking along the beach of Lake Galilee, Jesus saw two brothers: Simon (later called Peter) and Andrew. They were fishing, throwing their nets into the lake. It was their regular work.  Matthew 4:18

But each and everyday, it reminds us what we were put here on this glorious globe to do….

And Jesus said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you become fishers of men. Mark 1:17

Welcome to WFW!

There are very few rules, in fact the beauty of this ministry is the creative expression that God reveals Himself thorough. We marvel at the creativity that participants post with this meme. We encourage the ” post behind the picture,” or the reflections that many of the participants share. We ask that non-biblical resources not be used.

WFW is not about books, authors, artists.. it’s about God and HIS WORD ONLY. WFW is about celebrating the gift of creativity through God’s Word.

I love this post!!! I love the picture and the reminder of what we’re left here to do. Follow Him (our Savior)… and fish as we go.

And tonight I wondered while reading this post how apt we are to fish for the fish we want to catch; but wondered if we don’t sometimes fail to fish for the fish that we don’t especially care for… or simply don’t have time for…. or we don’t fish for some because some are harder than others and ask for too much and take too much time?

I don’t know. It’s just a wonder. Jesus told His disciples where to fish. I just want to be willing and obedient enough to fish where He wants me to and where I’m told.

Saved to serve my Savior so seeking to do so,
    sharon

Blessings Lori… That is one full FISH with many reminders for GOOD FISHING in God’s Word to catch the flow of His Spirit in us and to others through us!
I can see that HE has clearly caught your attention to follow and live His way

AMEN to each and every catch in this fish’s wishes and may we swim with all this into a world waiting to know the Jesus we follow and BE the DOERS of His Word with complete JOY and FREEDOM, with our minds constantly transformed and renewed with ALL that He equips us with to witness to His love and power flowing in us. I’m floating along, wondering about the bait necessary but yet I know He supplies all our needs even before we head out, trusting Him for the big catch and the harvest definitely is ripe everywhere… people in need of fishermen, with vessels ready, willing and able to GO or send and PRAY!

This is one delightfully written FISH story with many lessons from His Word!
Much to pause and reflect upon in each scripture in order to GO FISH, may we be about our Father’s business each day, FISHIN’ with JOY and sharing in LOVE!

Much love, peace and JOY to you this wonderful WORD filled week!
    Peggy

    Just keep swimming…

He keeps laying that on my heart.

Just keep swimming Dory, oh, I mean Melissa.

Though the storms, uncertainty and heaviness of life threatens to take you under every once in awhile, just keep swimming because you are doing what I’ve called you to do.

Thanks for the gentle reminder today my friend…this Dory fish is going to just keep swimming!

    xoxo,
    Melissa :)

I love it….love it! It is hard work to swim up stream and to keep swimming and keep swimming and oh so glad that God calls the unqualified and qualifies the called. I was unqualified when he caught this fish and so glad that he caught me to qualify me to work in ministry. So glad he caught you Lori and that you keep on even when it’s hard work to be in ministry!

I love the second quote – and when Jesus called the fishermen from their regular work – that gave me pause – I think there is something big there. These men were chosen because they had been responsible with what they were given. They were self-disciplined in their regular work. Self-discipline is so important as the fisher-of-men. Love your post! Each thought was a meal!

    Great post. Love the verses/reminders!

Can I ask where you got that spoon rest? It is so cute – a real conversation piece. Just the kind of thing I am looking for lately. I really would love to know where you got it… ~Sally
