As a mom, I am always on the lookout for ways to teach my children Scripture – to help them learn and understand the actual words of the Bible. I mean, as any good Christian mother would do, I am constantly quoting Scriptures to them – primarily the ones I feel hold a very personal lesson for them in the current situation – but quoting Scriptures, nonetheless. We also do family devotions each night, as well as help them learn Bible verses for the various children’s programs and curriculum at church. However, since I have stopped homeschooling our children in the last couple years, I feel like I have lost some of the opportunities to instill the Word of God in them.
Internationally recognized songwriters Abe and Liza Philip asked themselves the same type questions a few years ago, and the result was this amazing CD entitled “God’s Words from A to Z.” This CD offers 26 different Bible verses set to unforgettable and quite enjoyable melodies, including all the music genres you can imagine!
This is by far not your normal Bible verse or Christian music CD, but in a very good way!! And I absolutely love that the Scriptures chosen for the CD include the instructional verses to children, but also verses to help our children learn to share the Gospel! When I first started previewing some of these songs, my children froze in their tracks and immediately wanted to know what I was listening to. We have now heard several of the Scripture/Song combinations a few times over, and my kids love them!
If you’d like, you can get to know a little more about the Philips on their personal site, where they share their story of faith and music. You can also listen to many of the “God’s Word from A to Z” songs for yourself here.
Now we at the Family Counter have the great privilege of offering one of these amazing CD’s to YOU and your precious children!
To be entered in the giveaway, just leave a comment below telling us ways you teach your children to love the Word of God while they learn it! The winner will be drawn and posted on Monday, September 6!
Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.
Psalm 127:3 (KJV)

Well, we just started homeschooling this year and the MAJOR thing I wanted to do was spend time on this very topic!!!! I was aware that we were not doing a good enough job on this – expecting our church to do it all – because we “didn’t have time”. Now that we are homeschooling – I make the time – it is a subject in our day!!!! And, it is my girls’ favorite subject, I am pleased to report!!!!!! We start our day with prayer time and Bible reading, and they don’t want to stop!!!!! I am so pleased with their deep desire to learn about scripture!!!!! I am loving the results – better behavior, thinking things through, being nicer and more thoughtful!! All because we are now focused on the right things!!!!!

I show my children how to love God’s word while they learn it by example. I let them see how much I love reading the Bible and make sure I talk about what I’ve learned in my quiet times.

I am so loving the fact that my almost 4 year old daughter, Hannah has grown up surrounded by Gods word, and that she knows he loves her. Actually, when she was two, she told me she wanted Jesus in her heart. I sat down with her and prayed. I would absolutely love to keep feeding this hunger for Gods word with the help of Scripture songs. She has a 1 year old brother that I would like him to get started hearing this as well. Please keep us in mind for this giveaway, we would thouroghly enjoy it!

I have a 1,3, and 6 year old. We have an awesome bible study book that is great for their age. It has a little firefly bug character that leads them through bible stories and verses. We use breakfast or dinner time to sit and discuss the lessons and verses. Also, once school starts we repeat the verses in the car while waiting for the school bus and often put verses to our own beats.

When we homeschooled our sons we had a weekly verse to memorize. I wrote it on our white board to make it visual and during the week we would play “fill in the blank”. I would start the verse with several of the words and then they would try to fill in the missing portion. As the week went on it would take fewer words to get them going and they would recite more of the verse on their own. The verse game can still work with them today at ages 22 and almost 16! My personal favorite which will get a smile out of them everytime is “Children…”
Their response…”obey your parents in the Lord for this is right” (Ephesians 6:1)

Unfortunately, I did not show my children the Word of God during their childhood, but now, as a grandmother, my grandchildren see it, hear it, and feel it every time I see them. I have also become an Awana leader at their Awana group so they see grandma living it every day. I love the idea of a CD with all the verses for them to play in my home when they are here.

Our daughter is starting Kindergarten this year and we are entering this new chapter by homeschooling her. Not sure yet how this will all play out but trusting God that He will provide what we need to make this a valuable learning time for our family. Thanks for your recommendation of this CD.
